Woot.com paved the way for “daily deals” sites in 2004, offering a single product each day at a heavily discounted price. By accompanying their promotions with witty write-ups and videos, Woot gained a large following for not only its deals but also its humor. In 2010, Woot was acquired by Amazon and moved their creative team to Seattle, which is where I worked for them.
