Humble Instagram
Why does Instagram get its own page? Simply because, of all of our social media accounts, this was the most unique.
When I started at Humble, our Instagram was hardly used. If I remember correctly, it was in the single digits when it came to posts and in the double digits when it came to followers (though maybe there were a few hundred).
So we saw an opportunity as a creative team. Since no one cared about the account, what if we did something a little more fun with it than just another place to announce deals and company news.
The idea we came up with was to make it really ours. To make it a fictional backstage pass to the company, often through the eyes of our made-up pig mascot, Hamble.
The goal wasn’t direct sales but was to showcase our company’s personality and to build brand equity. Sure enough, we quickly grew our follower count and engagement. In face, we grew it so well that, sadly, after we each left to different places, it became way more active — with, of course, deals and promotional announcements — and still is today. So while the intention we built it with isn’t there anymore, it is neat to see that we single-handedly revived a channel that is now still heavily used today.
