Humble Bundle

I was the Sr. Copywriter for Humble Bundle, a game and book ecommerce site based in San Francisco. With a unique premise of allowing customers to choose the price they pay for bundles of games and books as well as who the money benefits (between the company, developers/publishers, and charity), Humble Bundle has raised over $240,000,000 for charity since 2010.

When I arrived at Humble Bundle, the Instagram account wasn't even being used anymore. Eventually, we were handed the keys to the account, and we came up with the concept to turn it into a behind-the-scenes look at our jobs. (With some fiction, of course.) We agreed that we'd limit promotional posts to a bare minimum, and even if we did those, they'd be through the mascot we created named "Hamble" or something going on around the office. Also, our hashtags were often purposefully nonsense or plays on far trendier hashtags. Below you'll see several examples of this. Through our efforts, we grew the Instagram . . . well, instantly! Or at least nearly instantly. I forget. But it went well! Eventually, after several of us had left, the account changed quite a bit, but hey, it made its way up to 75k followers, and we were the ones that put those wheels in motion.
