LivingSocial

One of my first copywriting gigs was as a freelance writer for LivingSocial where I wrote daily deal descriptions for small businesses in the Pacific Northwest.

Each locale had a daily deal, and these descriptions accompanied the deals on the website and emails. As was common in the industry at the time, there was a focus on fun copy to get people to read the deal even if the offer didn’t immediately interest them, which was common given the variety of deals out there.

That variety was also a good challenge for early in my career because it often required writing about things that I knew little about beforehand, so if you’re reading one of these samples and are like, “This guy doesn’t know what he’s talking about,” you’re probably right!
